This qualification has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in how to provide the relaxing and stress relieving treatment of Indian Head Massage - or Champissage. The treatment is also extremely beneficial for people who suffer from upper back, shoulder and neck and head/scalp tension. Working in specific ways on the muscles and fascia relieves the stress, tension and the aching and headaches that result, by softening the muscles and bringing a better blood flow into the area.

This course covers the technique for upper back, shoulder, upper arm, neck, scalp and face massage. It also includes the theory behind Indian Head Massage such as the history of the treatment, principles of ayurveda, marma points and chakras. The course includes resources with clear diagrams and images. Reception, consultation and aftercare guidance is covered as well as contra-indications to treatment. Photographs and videos ensure this course is both engaging and informative to give you the confidence to perform the Indian Head Massage.

Negative emotions such as anger, worry and fear cause us to feel stressed. The effect of stress on our bodies is to raise our heart rate and blood pressure and increase muscle tension. A lot of this tension occurs in the shoulders, neck and face. Using massage to reduce muscle tension and relaxation to lower heart rate and blood pressure, counter-acts the stress and calms the mind, helping you to cope with life’s problems.

Many people like to take this course because it gives them a skill that is so useful to use along side other therapies practised, and it offers the client an option to have a massage that does not necessarily mean removing clothing or having oils applied; although both these are equally also an option for those that want.
